Village, The North Pole

Favorite ORO Puro: Negra Criolla & Quebranta, the labels go with my outfit.

What got you into bar tending: Lots of time off. I’ve got to entertain all the elves somehow during the off season.

Movies or Books:Depends on if they are naughty or nice!

Favorite Mushroom: The meringue ones on Bouche de Noel.

If you could open a bar anywhere, where would it be: Somewhere warm.

ORO Cocktail:

Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies

2 oz ORO Quebranta

1/4oz Amaro Nonino

1 bar spoon pickled, spiced plums

3 oz not too spicy ginger ale or beer (Bunderberg, Reeds, Q, or Verners)

Orange zest

Put plum in shaker and mash with a bar spoon or muddler. Add pisco and amaro, then stir until plum starts to dissolve. Pour over a collins glass filled with ice and top with ginger beer and orange zest.

If you cannot find pickled plums, then use plum jam and a spicier ginger beer like Fever Tree and up the Nonino to a 1/3 of an ounce.

You can also make a this drink a sour by eliminating the ginger beer/ale and adding 1/2oz egg whites. Add the egg white after stirring, then dry shake the cocktail. After dry shaking, add ice and shake again. Double strain into a coup and garnish with orange bitters and Miracle Mile’s Forbidden bitters.

Heaven’s Dog, San Francisco, CA

Favorite ORO Puro-Oro Pisco Italia

What Got Me Into Bartending: About the time I found out that I wasn’t going to make it my whole life without having to work I started a search for something that would never feel like work and would allow me to act like a kid for ever. Then once I found out that the job that Tom Hanks had in the movie Big didn’t really exist and other cool toy jobs required a degree of some sorts. So my next favorite movie Back to the Future was unrealistic and being a cowboy like blazing saddles just wasn’t me. So I settled on being like Tom Cruise in Days of Thunder but that was to expensive so the movie Cocktail it was.. Cocktails and Dreams

Favorite mushroom:Toad from mario Kart

If you could open a bar anywhere, where would it be: I would open a bar at 1148 mission st. I would probablly serve awesome chinese food, cocktails based on Charles H. Bakers book Jigger, Beaker, and Glass and I would call it Deaven’s Hog

ORO Cocktail:

Crouching Cider Hidden Dragon

7oz Spiced Apple Cider*

1.5oz ORO Italia

*Spiced Cider

2 liters of unsweetened organic apple juice

1 tablespoon black cardamom

6 cinnamon sticks

the peels from two oranges studded with cloves

combine all ingredients an hour before serving and serve warm

The Border Grill, Downtown LA

Which is your favorite ORO Puro: My favorite Oro puro is the unbroken, hazelnut kissed Quebranta.

How did you get into bartending: My love of spirits and great conversation brought me to bartending.

What is your favorite type of mushroom: My favorite mushrooms; Morels, black & white truffles.

If you could open a bar anywhere, where would it be: I would like to open a seasonal market driven, hand-crafted cocktail bar near a warm beach where I can cater to my relaxed guests desire for spirited adventure.

My favorite Oro Cocktail is my Marco Pisco. Marco Pisco is exclusively offered in the Cantina at Border Grill DTLA; Oro Pisco Quebranta, Cinnamon cream, Granny Smith foam, Mole bitters. A playfully soulful take on the classic Pisco Sour and Pisco punches popular in late 19th century California with a nod to Molecular Mixology for functional fun.

Luka’s Taproom, Oakland, CA

How Did You Get Into Mixology: When I was 17 with my extremely convincing fake ID, I would purchase bottles of “Golden Gate” vodka, and….out of necesity to make the legal moonshine pallitable, I would mix it with juice, soda, or fruit so we could enjoy the liquid libations. As mild maturity set in I went to Create Greece to visit with my family. I became instantly inspired by the bursting variety of citrus, and the local sage honey. And this is how Mixology found me.
Favorite Mushroom: Shitaki today, trumpet yesterday
If You Could Open a Bar Anywhere, Where Would It Be: I would open a bar on the pacific side of Nicaragua, where the air is sweet, the fruit abundent, and the smiles genuine.

Favorite ORO Puro: All the Aromatics.

ORO Cocktail: Daylight Savings

San Francisco, CA

Where you shakin’ at? Rickhouse

How did you first get into bartending?

I’ve been in the service industry since I was 17, and I basically told my company that I was going to be a bartender with or without them. Luckily, one of the restaurants I was working for got their liquor licesnce right before I turned 21—so on my birthday, I started bartending.

Books or movies:

Both—Boozehound for books, and any awesomely funny movie like Hot Rod or 80′s films like RAD.

Favorite mushroom:

I do a lot of cooking on my time off and I’m totally in love with mushrooms. I usually keep porcini, shitake, and baby bellas on hand—but generally, if it’s fungus, I love it!

If you could open a bar anywhere in the world, where would it be?
